L’articolo “THE FIRST KNOWN INSCRIPTION FROM HATRA IN GREEK AND HATRAN ARAMAIC: NEW INSIGHTS INTO SOCIOLINGUISTICS AND RELIGION AT THE CITY OF THE SUN” pubblicato da ILARIA BUCCI , MARÍA-PAZ DE HOZ, TED KAIZER E MARCO MORIGGI sulla rivista Iraq tratta di un argomento estremamente interessante e integra profondamente il quadro attualmente noto sulle iscrizioni di Hatra.
Abstract: This article presents the first known bilingual inscription from Hatra, written in Greek and Hatran Aramaic, and as the first example of its kind from the city, it offers important new insights. The study explores what this inscription reveals about the interaction between Greek and Aramaic in Hatra and the wider southwest Asia, as well as its significance for the city’s religious landscape. In particular, it suggests that the goddess ʾAllāt, under influence of the royal house, came to join the Sun god Šmeš (Šamaš) at the heart of Hatrene religion.
